Le Maire: Europe made right moves on inflation

The European Central Bank and Europe’s governments have together taken the right decisions to start bringing inflation down across the region, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Thursday.

Le Maire, who was speaking from Paris to the Reuters NEXT conference in New York, acknowledged the tightening of monetary policy had had an impact on euro area growth but stressed that combating inflation would over time help consumption.

That said, he added: “There is a need for more growth and productivity in Europe.”
